At the end of May, when it was doing NOTHING but rain one of my favourite couples got married. On their wedding day they totally had the attitude “who cares if it’s raining, not us.”
I spent the morning with Jess, her parents and Bridesmaids. There were smiles, laughter, a few tears and bucks fizz. Ben, his Usher’s and Best Man also had a photographer to capture their tie tying attempts!
Not at all bothered by the rain, we arrived at the church for the ceremony. Unfortunately, it was still raining when we left the church but there was no way on earth Jess and Ben were going to let this get to them. With smiles a mile wide and an entourage, armed with umbrella’s, we left Colwall Church and made our way to Old Castle for celebrations.
Old Castle nestles in the foot of the beautiful Malvern Hills (where Ben had proposed to Jess) and is itself a hidden gem.
After welcome drinks we were graced with sunshine and so we made the most of it and made it outside for posed family photo’s that the couple wanted. As it happened, the sun stayed with us for the rest of the day and this meant the giant Jenga and Noughts & Crosses games were brought out on to the patio.
Inside, the tables were dressed ready for the wedding breakfast. As favours Jess and Ben had made a donation to Cancer Research UK which I think is a really lovely idea. Everyone wins – the person gets a pin badge and the charity gets some more money. Brilliant!
I have to also mention the amazing Fish & Chips that were served from the van for supper too. They were scrummy!
On this occasion, considering what the day started like, Jess and Ben were very lucky – although they are SO in love I am not sure they even noticed the rain! Perfect…….
